A direct-fit fuel door designed for 1974-1975 Nissan 260Z models, this gas flap restores the car's original appearance while protecting the fuel filler from debris and corrosion. Engineered to match factory mounting points, it secures the filler area, provides a reliable seal, and delivers long-lasting durability thanks to a corrosion-resistant finish. Ideal for restorations and maintenance, it offers an easy bolt-on replacement that brings back factory alignment and improves overall vehicle presentation.
Features:
- Fits 1974-1975 Nissan 260Z (direct-fit for these model years).
- Part number 78818 N4200 — designed to match factory geometry and fitment.
- Durable stamped steel construction with a corrosion-resistant coating for long life.
- Restores original fuel door appearance and protects the filler neck from dirt and moisture.
- Direct-fit installation that aligns with OE mounting points — may reuse original hardware.
- Ideal for restoration projects or replacing worn, dented, or corroded original gas flaps.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Park on level ground, open the existing fuel door and remove any screws or fasteners attaching the old flap to the hinge using the appropriate screwdriver or socket.
- If hardware is corroded, apply penetrating oil, allow to soak, then remove carefully to avoid breaking bolts or screws.
- Remove the old gas flap from the hinge. If the hinge assembly is damaged, inspect and replace as needed before fitting the new flap.
- Clean the mounting area and fuel filler surround with degreaser; remove loose rust or paint to ensure a flat mounting surface.
- Align the new gas flap with the hinge and factory mounting holes. If reusing original hardware, position the flap and hand-thread screws or bolts to avoid cross-threading.
- Tighten fasteners evenly to snug — do not overtighten. Check hood/door gaps and adjust alignment by loosening fasteners slightly and repositioning the flap as needed.
- Open and close the fuel door several times to confirm smooth operation and correct alignment. Make final torque adjustments if necessary and apply touch-up paint to any exposed bare metal to prevent corrosion.
