Front upper ball joint designed for 2003–2005 Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles. This direct-fit replacement secures the upper control arm to the steering knuckle, maintaining proper suspension geometry, steering responsiveness, and tire wear. Built for durability and reliable performance, it restores factory fit and function to worn or damaged ball joints. Easy to install with common tools and helps reduce vibration, noise, and play at the front end for safer driving and improved handling.
Features:
- Fitment: Direct replacement for 2003–2005 Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury models (front upper, right or left hand).
- Exact-fit design restores proper suspension geometry and steering alignment.
- Durable metal construction with corrosion-resistant finish for long service life.
- Secures the upper control arm to the steering knuckle, reducing play and vibration.
- Simple replacement for restoration or routine suspension maintenance.
- Greaseable or multi-piece design (depending on application) for extended durability.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 60-120 minutes per side
Instructions:
- Park on a level surface, engage parking brake and loosen the front wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Raise the vehicle with a floor jack and support securely on jack stands. Remove the front wheel.
- Spray penetrating oil on the ball joint nut and threads, and remove any cotter pin or retaining clip from the castle nut if present.
- Remove the nut securing the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a ball joint separator (pickle fork) or press to separate the ball joint stud from the knuckle.
- If necessary, disconnect other components (sway bar end link, brake caliper bracket, or strut-to-knuckle fasteners) to gain clearance per vehicle-specific service manual.
- Use a ball joint press or suitable C-clamp adapter to press out the old upper ball joint from the control arm.
- Clean the control arm bore and inspect for damage or corrosion. Press the new ball joint into the arm until fully seated. If the part is greaseable, apply grease as specified.
- Reinstall the ball joint stud into the steering knuckle and tighten the castle nut to the manufacturer torque specification. Install a new cotter pin if required.
- Reassemble any components removed for access, torqueing fasteners to spec. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to specification.
- After installation, have a professional wheel alignment performed to ensure proper steering and tire wear.
