Replacement deck filler panel for 1967–1969 Camaro and Pontiac Firebird coupes. This OE-style sheetmetal panel restores the rear deck area between the taillights and trunk opening, providing original contours, structural support and a clean mounting surface for trim and seals. Built from heavy-gauge steel to match factory dimensions, it’s intended for restorations and rust repair where the original panel has corroded or been damaged. The panel improves fitment, helps reduce trunk leaks and vibration, and accepts standard welding, seam sealer and paint finishes for a long-lasting, factory-correct repair.
Features:
  • Fits 1967–1969 Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird coupes.
  • Sturdy, heavy-gauge steel construction replicates original factory contours.
  • Restores rear deck structure and provides a proper mounting surface for taillight/trim components.
  • Designed for restorations and rust-repair projects to eliminate corrosion and damage.
  • Accepts welding, seam sealer, primer and paint for durable, long-term protection.
  • OEM-style fit reduces trimming and reshaping during installation.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 4/5
  • Estimated time: 4–8 hours (depending on rust extent and experience)
Suggested Tools:
  • Angle grinder with cutoff and flap discs
  • Spot-weld cutter or drill set
  • MIG or TIG welder
  • Welding clamps and magnets
  • Hammer and dolly
  • Measuring tape and marker
  • Body filler and sandpaper
  • Seam sealer and primer
  • Automotive paint and supplies
  • Safety gear (gloves, eye protection, respirator)
Instructions:
  1. Prepare vehicle: remove trunk mat, taillights, trim, weatherstripping and any components that obstruct access to the deck filler area.
  2. Assess and mark: inspect the original panel and surrounding metal. Mark the cut lines to remove rusted or damaged sections, leaving solid metal for welding where possible.
  3. Cut and remove old panel: use an angle grinder and spot-weld cutter to remove the old panel cleanly. Preserve flange material for alignment if applicable.
  4. Test-fit new panel: position the replacement panel and check alignment with adjacent panels, trunk opening and taillight housings. Trim or adjust as needed for a snug fit.
  5. Clamp and tack-weld: secure the panel with welding clamps or magnets. Tack-weld at multiple points to verify fit and prevent distortion.
  6. Complete welding: stitch or continuous-weld the panel into place using appropriate welding technique for the surrounding metal thickness. Avoid overheating to minimize warping.
  7. Grind and finish welds: grind welds flush and use hammer/dolly as needed to restore panel contour. Fill low areas with body filler if required, then sand smooth.
  8. Seal and protect: apply seam sealer to all welded seams and joints to prevent moisture intrusion. Prime the repaired area with an epoxy or etch primer.
  9. Paint and reassemble: prime and paint to match the vehicle. Reinstall taillights, trim, weatherstripping and trunk components.
  10. Final checks: verify trunk alignment, gaps and seal integrity. Make any final adjustments for proper fit and finish.
