This direct-fit radiator support top panel is designed for 1968–1972 Chevelle, El Camino and Monte Carlo models using the 3-bolt configuration. It secures the radiator and grille assembly, aligns the hood and front-end components, and restores factory mounting points for a correct, durable fit. Made as a pre-formed replacement panel, it simplifies restoration and repair by eliminating warped or rusted original pieces and providing a reliable foundation for the cooling system and front-end trim.
Features:
- Fits 1968-1972 Chevrolet Chevelle, El Camino and Monte Carlo (3-bolt type).
- Pre-formed stamped steel construction for strength and accurate fit.
- Re-establishes factory radiator, grille and hood alignment to reduce vibration and wear.
- Bolt-on direct replacement — designed to match original mounting locations.
- Ideal for restoration projects or repairing rust-damaged front-end structural components.
- Ready for primer and paint; built to deliver long-term durability and reliable support.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 1-2 hours
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, set parking brake and disconnect the negative battery cable.
- If necessary, remove the hood or prop it securely to access the top of the radiator support.
- Drain coolant or slightly loosen upper radiator hose clamps if radiator removal is required for clearance; support or remove the radiator and fan shroud as needed.
- Remove grille, trim pieces and any components attached to the top support (headlight bezels, clips, fasteners).
- Apply penetrating oil to any corroded bolts, then remove the three bolts securing each side of the old top panel and detach any remaining fasteners or spot welds.
- Compare the new panel to the old one to confirm fit and hole alignment; transfer any brackets or clips if required.
- Position the new top panel and fasten with the original hardware or supplied bolts; hand-start all fasteners, then tighten evenly to secure fit.
- Reinstall the radiator, fan shroud, grille and trim in reverse order of removal; reconnect hoses and the battery.
- Refill and bleed the cooling system if it was drained, then check for proper alignment of hood and grille and verify there are no leaks or loose fasteners.
- Perform a final torque check on fasteners and adjust as needed; touch up primer/paint where required for corrosion protection.
