  • Fits 1968 Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird — left-hand (driver side) door shell.
  • Heavy-gauge steel construction for long-lasting durability and strength.
  • Restores factory mounting points for hinges, latch, window regulator and glass.
  • Precision-formed to original dimensions for a direct-fit restoration replacement.
  • Provides a corrosion-free foundation ready for seam sealing, priming and painting.
  • Ideal for rust repair and frame-up restoration projects; recommended for pro or experienced DIY installation.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 4/5
  • Estimated time: 4-8 hours (varies by experience and prep/finish work)
Suggested Tools:
  • Socket set and wrenches
  • Screwdrivers and trim tools
  • MIG or TIG welder
  • Angle grinder with cutoff and flap discs
  • Clamps and locking pliers
  • Body hammer and dolly
  • Measuring tape and straight edge
  • Seam sealer and applicator
  • Rust-inhibiting primer and paint
  • Protective gear (gloves, eye protection, welding helmet)
  • Door stand or jack to support door
Instructions:
  1. Remove the door from the vehicle by supporting it with a stand or jack, then unbolt the hinges and disconnect any wiring and latch linkages.
  2. Disassemble the door: remove trim, glass, regulator, latch, lock, and other hardware; label and store fasteners for reassembly.
  3. Cut or grind away the old/rotten shell as required, preserving any inner components to be transferred; clean mating surfaces.
  4. Test-fit the new shell to the door inner structure or outer skin to verify alignment and fit; make any minor trim adjustments.
  5. Clamp the shell in place and perform tack welds around the perimeter to confirm fitment; verify door gaps and alignment with the vehicle.
  6. Complete the welds along the seams, grinding smooth as needed; ensure consistent weld penetration for structural integrity.
  7. Apply seam sealer to all welded joints, treat exposed metal with rust inhibitor, then prime and paint the repaired area to match the rest of the vehicle.
  8. Reinstall glass, regulator, latch, lock and trim; remount the door to the vehicle and adjust hinge positions and latch striker for proper fit and smooth operation.
  9. Perform final checks on window operation, latch engagement, and door alignment; make any fine adjustments to ensure correct gaps and sealing.
