Direct-fit rear inner valance panel (cross rail) for 1969 Camaro and 1969 Firebird. This replacement panel restores the rear substructure that supports the bumper, trunk area and bumper mounts, returning factory alignment and structural integrity after collision damage or rust repair. Built from heavy-gauge steel to provide lasting durability and strength, the panel is manufactured to OEM dimensions for a precise fit and straightforward installation. It protects the trunk floor and rear body from road debris and helps reduce vibration while providing a reliable platform for bumper and trim reattachment — ideal for restorations and rust-repair projects.
Features:
  • Fits 1969 Chevrolet Camaro and 1969 Pontiac Firebird (single-year fitment).
  • Heavy-gauge steel construction for long-lasting strength and structural support.
  • OEM-dimension replacement for accurate bumper alignment and factory fitment.
  • Restores rear substructure integrity — ideal for collision repair and restoration projects.
  • Weld-ready design with pre-aligned mounting locations to simplify installation.
  • Helps protect trunk floor and rear body from road damage and reduces vibration.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 4/5
  • Estimated time: 3–6 hours (professional/shop estimate) — additional time may be required for extensive rust repair, priming, and painting
Suggested Tools:
  • Angle grinder or cutoff tool
  • Spot-weld cutter or drill
  • MIG or TIG welder
  • Welding clamps and magnets
  • Hammer and body dolly
  • Drill and drill bits
  • Measuring tape and marker
  • Seam sealer and applicator
  • Rust inhibitor / primer and paint
  • Safety gear (gloves, eye protection, respirator)
Instructions:
  1. Prepare the vehicle: disconnect battery, remove rear bumper, taillights, trim, and trunk components to expose the valance area.
  2. Support the rear structure as needed and mark the cut/spot-weld locations on the existing inner valance/cross rail.
  3. Remove the old panel by cutting or drilling out spot welds. Clean and grind surrounding metal to sound base metal; remove any rust back to solid metal.
  4. Test-fit the new replacement panel. Trim or adjust as required so that all mounting points and bumper alignment points match factory locations.
  5. Clamp the new panel in place and begin tack-welding from the center outward to control fit and alignment. Complete stitch or spot welds following OEM spacing where possible.
  6. Grind welds smooth and check fitment of bumper and trunk components. Address any gaps with filler only where appropriate.
  7. Treat all welds and adjacent bare metal with rust inhibitor, apply seam sealer to joints, prime, and paint to match the vehicle.
  8. Reinstall bumper, taillights, trim and trunk components. Verify bumper alignment and make any final adjustments.
