OE-style replacement glove box door engineered to restore function and appearance to 1970-1972 Chevrolet Chevelle, El Camino, and Monte Carlo interiors. This door secures the glove compartment, eliminates rattles, and provides a proper mounting surface for the original latch and trim. Constructed for durability and a correct fit, it is ideal for restoration projects or replacement of a damaged or corroded original door. The part arrives ready for finishing or paint and simplifies returning the dash to factory-correct condition.
Features:
  • Fits 1970-1972 Chevrolet Chevelle, El Camino, and Monte Carlo (direct replacement).
  • OE-style stamped construction for correct fit and alignment with the factory dash.
  • Corrosion-resistant surface treatment for long-lasting durability (paintable/finishable).
  • Secures glove box contents, reduces rattles and restores original appearance.
  • Pre-drilled mounting locations accommodate original hinges and latch hardware for easy installation.
  • Ideal for interior restorations and replacement of dented, rusted, or missing glove box doors.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 20-45 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Flathead screwdriver or plastic trim tool
  • Socket wrench with common shallow sockets (7mm/1/4"/3/8" depending on hardware)
  • Pliers
  • Masking tape (optional to protect surrounding trim)
Instructions:
  1. Open the glove box and remove all contents.
  2. Support the glove box door (use a helper or prop) and remove the hinge pin(s) or hinge screws securing the door to the dash using a socket or screwdriver.
  3. If present, disconnect the glove box latch/striker assembly and any dampener or stop mechanisms; set original hardware aside for reuse unless replacing.
  4. Carefully remove the old door from the dash opening and inspect the hinge area and latch mounting points; clean any rust or debris.
  5. Test-fit the replacement door to confirm alignment. If needed, adjust mounting holes or hinge positions slightly for proper clearance.
  6. Transfer original latch, striker, and any trim pieces to the replacement door or install new hardware as applicable.
  7. Secure the replacement door to the hinge using the original pins or screws; tighten fasteners snugly but avoid over-torquing.
  8. Verify latch function and door alignment; open and close several times to ensure smooth operation and that the door is rattle-free.
  9. Touch up or paint the door as desired if it was supplied unpainted; reinstall glove box contents.
