1970-1981 Camaro / Firebird 4-speed manual transmission hump panel designed to restore the factory transmission tunnel, secure the shifter opening, and protect the cabin floor. This pre-formed stamped steel panel reproduces the correct contour for 4-speed cars, providing a durable foundation for carpet and center consoles while preventing exhaust and road noise intrusion. Ideal for restorations and rust repair, it offers long-lasting strength and a straightforward fit for professional or competent DIY installs.
Features:
  • Fits 1970-1981 Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird 4-speed manual transmission models.
  • Pre-formed stamped steel construction for accurate OEM-style contour and strength.
  • Restores factory floor appearance and provides proper shifter opening and mounting support.
  • Helps reduce road noise, heat, and exhaust intrusion into the cabin.
  • Supplied with corrosion-resistant primer to protect bare metal prior to final finish.
  • Designed for restoration or replacement of rusted or damaged transmission tunnel sections.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 2-6 hours (depending on rust repair and skill level)
Suggested Tools:
  • Angle grinder with cutting and grinding wheels
  • MIG or TIG welder (or access to welding services)
  • Clamps and locking pliers
  • Hammer and body dolly
  • Wire brush or grinder wheel
  • Drill and spot weld cutter (if removing factory spot welds)
  • Seam sealer and applicator

Instructions:
  1. Disconnect battery, remove seats, carpet, center console, and shifter assembly to expose the floor pan.
  2. Clean the area and assess the extent of rust or damage; mark the section to be removed using the replacement panel as a template.
  3. Cut out the damaged panel area, preserving as much solid flange as possible; remove spot welds where applicable.
  4. Test-fit the new hump panel, trimming and shaping with hammer/dolly as needed for an accurate fit.
  5. Clamp the panel in place and tack-weld at multiple points to maintain alignment, then complete welds in short runs to minimize distortion.
  6. Grind welds smooth, clean the area thoroughly, and apply seam sealer to all joints and seams.
  7. Prime and paint the repaired area or apply undercoating as desired for corrosion protection.
  8. Reinstall shifter components, center console, carpet, and seats; verify shifter alignment and function before final assembly.
