This left-hand quarter panel skin is a direct-fit replacement for the 1970 Dodge Coronet, designed to restore the rear quarter’s exterior surface, structural integrity, and mounting points. Manufactured from heavy-gauge stamped steel with OEM-style contours, the panel skin replaces rusted, dented, or damaged outer skin, providing a durable, corrosion-resistant surface ready for finishing. Ideal for restorations and collision repairs, it simplifies bodywork by matching original dimensions for accurate alignment and reliable long-term performance.
Features:
  • Fits 1970 Dodge Coronet — left-hand (driver side) rear quarter panel skin.
  • Stamped heavy-gauge steel construction for strength and long-lasting durability.
  • OEM-style contours and attachment points for accurate fit and simplified alignment.
  • Restores exterior appearance and structural mounting surfaces for trim and lights.
  • Ideal replacement for rusted or damaged outer skins — reduces fabrication and repair time.
  • Surface ready for seam sealer, primer, and paint; facilitates high-quality restorations.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 4/5
  • Estimated time: 4–8 hours (varies with skill level and prep work)
Suggested Tools:
  • Angle grinder with cut-off and flap discs
  • Spot weld cutter or drill
  • MIG or TIG welder
  • Clamps and locking pliers
  • Hammer and dolly set
  • Measuring tape and marker
  • Seam sealer and applicator
  • Rust inhibitor or primer
  • Protective gear (welding helmet, gloves, respirator)
Instructions:
  1. Inspect the existing quarter and surrounding structure; mark panel lines and any underlying rust or damage that requires repair.
  2. Remove the damaged outer skin: cut out the affected area, drill or use a spot-weld cutter to separate the old skin from inner structure, and carefully grind away residual welds.
  3. Prepare mating surfaces: clean to bare metal, remove rust, and ensure flange areas are straight and free of paint or debris for good weld penetration.
  4. Test-fit the new skin: align the replacement panel to OEM reference points, clamps, and check gaps for consistent fitment. Trim or adjust as needed for perfect alignment.
  5. Secure the panel by tacking in place: begin with a few tack welds at key reference points to hold alignment, then progressively weld the panel using short stitch welds or spot welding to minimize heat distortion.
  6. Dress welds and seams: grind welds smooth where appropriate, use hammer and dolly to refine contours, and ensure transitions are flush for finishing.
  7. Apply corrosion protection: coat exposed seam areas with rust inhibitor or primer, and apply seam sealer to welded joints and inner seams to prevent moisture intrusion.
  8. Finish preparation: prime any bare metal, block sand as necessary, and proceed with final primer and paint to match the vehicle.
  9. Reinstall any removed trim, lights, and components, and inspect the repair for fit, finish, and corrosion protection.
