A 50-piece exterior trim and emblem thread-cutting speed nut kit designed for 1969 Chevrolet Corvette restorations. These self-clinching speed nuts cut threads as screws are installed to create a strong, vibration-resistant fastening for exterior trim, badges, and moldings. Made for durability and repeatable performance, the kit restores factory fit and appearance while making installation fast and reliable for hobbyists and pros alike.
Features:
- Fits 1969 Chevrolet Corvette exterior trim and emblems
- 50-piece kit provides ample replacements for badges, moldings, and fittings
- Thread-cutting design creates secure engagement on studs and sheet-metal
- Durable, heat-treated steel with a corrosion-resistant finish for long service life
- Snap-on installation reduces installation time and prevents trim vibration
- Perfect OEM-style replacement for restoration and maintenance projects
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes (full installation varies by vehicle condition)
Instructions:
- Remove the trim piece or emblem to access the mounting studs or holes.
- Apply penetrating oil to any rusted studs and allow to soak; clean studs/holes with a wire brush and rag.
- Select the correct speed nut from the kit sized for the stud or screw diameter.
- Position the speed nut over the stud or place it in the sheet-metal slot so the thread-cutting edge aligns with the stud.
- Press or squeeze the speed nut into place until it snaps or seats solidly on the sheet metal (use pliers if necessary).
- Install the trim or emblem and start the screw by hand to allow the speed nut to cut threads; then tighten to a snug, factory-appropriate torque. Do not over-tighten.
- Repeat for all mounting points, check alignment and fit, and re-tighten if necessary after initial settling.
- If a stud is excessively corroded or damaged, replace the stud before installing a new speed nut.
