C3 Power antennas are designed to work with factory radios using the original harness and relay. If you use an aftermarket radio and attempt to bypass the original relay, the antenna will not work and we do not have any warranty if the wires have been cut and spliced to achieve operation.
The original relay is a reversing unit that reverses polarity causing the antenna to go up and down. If an aftermarket radio is used, it must be integrated to use the original relay for proper operation. Using the current reproduction 1979-82 Power Antenna, we have created a unit that is a direct fit on 1978 Corvettes. It comes with installation instructions and will match up to the original brackets on the car.
