Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface and open doors for access to roof rails. Work on one side at a time.
- Carefully remove the old weatherstrip: use a trim removal tool or flat-blade screwdriver to pry out retainers and pull the old seal free. Save any reusable clips if applicable.
- Clean the rail channel and surrounding metal thoroughly with rubbing alcohol or a suitable solvent to remove old adhesive, dirt, and residue. Allow to dry.
- Test-fit the new seal along the rail to confirm orientation (left vs. right) and that the ends align with door frames and drip rails.
- If adhesive is recommended for your application, apply a thin, even bead of weatherstrip adhesive into the channel or to the seal’s retaining edge per adhesive instructions.
- Starting at one end, align the new seal and press it firmly into the channel. Work along the rail in short sections, ensuring the seal seats fully and evenly. Use masking tape to hold the seal in place where needed until adhesive cures.
- Trim any excess material at the ends with a utility knife for a neat fit. Reinstall any retained clips or fasteners.
- Allow adhesive to cure per manufacturer instructions (if used). Check for uniform compression along the seal and verify doors close smoothly without binding.
- Repeat process on the opposite side. Inspect for leaks by gently spraying water over the roof rail area after installation and make adjustments if necessary.
