Instructions:
- Remove the old seal: gently pry out the existing vent post seal using a plastic trim tool or flat-head screwdriver, taking care not to damage the post or surrounding trim.
- Clean the mounting surface: wipe the vent post and surrounding area with a rag and isopropyl alcohol to remove dirt, adhesive residue, and oils; allow to dry completely.
- Test-fit the new seal: position the new left-hand seal on the vent post to confirm alignment and correct orientation before adhesive application.
- Apply adhesive (if required): apply a thin bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the mounting channel or as recommended by the adhesive manufacturer. Some seals press-fit without adhesive — follow the part-specific guidance.
- Install the seal: align the seal and press it firmly into the channel along the full length of the post, ensuring the inward-facing lip seats against the window frame.
- Trim excess: if needed, trim any excess material with scissors or a utility knife for a neat fit.
- Allow adhesive to cure: if adhesive was used, follow the adhesive cure time before operating the window or exposing the area to moisture.
- Inspect the seal: check for gaps or areas not fully seated and press or re-seat as necessary. Re-check after a short road test to confirm no wind noise or leaks.
