This Precision Windshield Weatherstrip Seal (Second Series WCR 407) is a direct-fit replacement designed to seal and secure the windshield while retaining exterior trim. Made for GM Second Series applications, the seal’s engineered profile and trim groove lock the molding in place, prevent water and wind intrusion, reduce rattles, and restore factory appearance. Constructed from durable, weather-resistant elastomer, it offers long-term resistance to ozone, UV and temperature extremes while remaining flexible for reliable sealing and straightforward installation — ideal for restoration and maintenance projects.
Features:
- Fits Second Series WCR 407 windshields for GM vehicles — verify exact model/year fitment prior to purchase.
- Premium weather-resistant elastomer (EPDM-style) resists ozone, UV and temperature degradation.
- Integrated trim groove secures exterior molding for a factory-correct look and fit.
- Precision profile forms a watertight seal to prevent leaks, wind noise and vibration.
- Flexible yet durable construction simplifies installation and improves long-term reliability.
- Designed as a restoration-grade replacement to return classic vehicles to original appearance.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 60-90 minutes (may vary by vehicle and whether windshield removal is required)
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground and disconnect battery if removing associated trim with electrical components.
- Carefully remove exterior trim molding and any clips securing the old seal using trim tools to avoid damaging paint.
- If the windshield must be removed, follow safe glass removal procedures or have the glass supported with suction cups; otherwise, work with the glass in place if design allows.
- Remove the old weatherstrip completely. Trim away any remaining adhesive or rubber with a utility knife and clean the channel thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol; allow to dry.
- Test-fit the new seal around the windshield opening to confirm fit and orientation. Note the top/center starting point.
- Apply a light coat of soapy water or recommended silicone lubricant to the sealing lip and cavity to aid installation. If the application requires adhesive, apply according to adhesive manufacturer instructions.
- Starting at the top center, press the seal into the channel and work outward around one side, then repeat on the opposite side. Use a rubber mallet or hand pressure to seat the seal uniformly without overstretching.
- Engage the trim groove by reinstalling the exterior molding and clips, ensuring the molding snaps securely into place along the full perimeter.
- Trim any excess material if necessary and recheck that the seal sits evenly with no gaps or pinched areas.
- Allow any adhesive to cure per manufacturer instructions, then perform a water test (hose the perimeter) to confirm leak-free installation. Reinstall any removed components and clean the work area.
