Instructions:
- Remove the old weatherstrip: open the door and pull out the existing Door J seal. Use a trim tool or flathead screwdriver to pry if necessary.
- Clean the jamb channel thoroughly: remove old adhesive and debris, then wipe with isopropyl alcohol and a clean cloth. Allow to dry.
- Test-fit the new seals: position the left and right pieces into the jamb channel without adhesive to confirm orientation and length. Trim any excess with a utility knife if needed.
- Apply adhesive: following the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions, apply a thin bead to the jamb channel or the seal’s mounting flange where recommended.
- Install the seal: starting at the top corner, press the seal firmly into the jamb channel and work down the length, ensuring the seal seats fully into the channel profile.
- Secure and align: use masking tape or spring clamps to hold the seal in place while adhesive sets. Make sure corners and ends are properly seated and the door closes smoothly.
- Allow adhesive to cure: follow the adhesive cure time (typically 1–2 hours for handling, 24 hours for full cure) before exposing to water or driving.
- Check operation: after cure, close the door and verify even compression along the door edge, adjust or trim if necessary for a uniform seal.
