Direct-fit alternator plug connector designed for 1969–1985 Chevrolet Corvette models to restore a secure, reliable charging connection. This OEM-style replacement provides a durable housing and corrosion-resistant terminals to prevent intermittent charging, arcing, and wire damage. Ideal for restorations and repairs, it simplifies re-establishing factory wiring integrity and improves long-term reliability.
Features:
- Fits 1969-1985 Chevrolet Corvette (direct-fit alternator plug replacement).
- Durable thermoplastic housing resists heat and road contaminants for long service life.
- Corrosion-resistant terminals ensure consistent electrical contact and reliable charging.
- Restores original wiring function — ideal for restorations and replacement of brittle or damaged plugs.
- Simple plug-and-crimp application for fast, dependable repair; reduces risk of shorts and poor connections.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 15-30 minutes
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface, set parking brake and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent shorts.
- Locate the alternator and the existing connector at the alternator plug; access may require removing nearby trim or components.
- Carefully unplug and inspect the old connector; note wire colors and positions or take a photo for reference.
- Cut the old connector from the harness if necessary, leaving enough wire length to work with (about 1–2 inches).
- Strip approximately 1/4" of insulation from each wire end and slide heat-shrink tubing onto each wire before terminating.
- Crimp the new terminals onto the stripped wire ends using a proper crimping tool, or solder for a permanent connection; ensure each terminal is seated firmly in the new housing.
- Insert terminals into the connector housing in the correct order (refer to your photo or factory pinout) until each clicks into place; trim any excess wire if needed.
- Slide heat-shrink over each connection and apply heat to seal, or wrap connections with quality electrical tape. Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the mating area to help prevent corrosion.
- Reconnect the plug at the alternator, reconnect the negative battery terminal, start the vehicle, and verify proper charging voltage with a multimeter (around 13.8–14.6V).
