Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake, and turn off ignition. For added safety, disconnect the negative battery terminal.
- Access the rear lamp assembly by opening the trunk or liftgate and locating the reverse light lens.
- Remove the lens fasteners (screws or clips) using the appropriate screwdriver and carefully set them aside in a container.
- Pull the lens away to expose the bulb socket; if necessary, gently twist the socket counterclockwise to release it.
- Carefully pull the old bulb straight out of the socket. If glass is broken, wear gloves and clean any debris before installing the new bulb.
- Insert the new backup light bulb into the socket, ensuring a secure, proper fit. Reinstall the socket into the lamp housing and twist clockwise if applicable.
- Test the bulb by having an assistant place the transmission in reverse while the ignition is on, or temporarily reconnect the battery and test the reverse lights.
- Reinstall the lens and fasteners, secure tightly but avoid overtightening, then reconnect the negative battery terminal if disconnected.
- Confirm operation of the reverse light and finish cleanup.
