A direct-fit accelerator rod boot engineered for 1970-1973 Nissan 240Z models. Molded from weather- and ozone-resistant EPDM rubber, this boot seals and cushions the throttle/accelerator linkage where the rod passes through the firewall. It prevents dust, water and road grime from entering the cabin or throttle linkage, reduces vibration and rod wear, and restores the original-looking seal for reliable operation. Supplied as OEM-style restoration hardware (part number 18218 E4102), it offers long-lasting durability, easy installation and a proper fit for classic Datsun 240Z restorations.
Features:
  • Fitment: 1970-1973 Nissan 240Z
  • Made from durable EPDM rubber for heat, ozone and weather resistance
  • Seals and protects the accelerator/throttle rod at the firewall
  • Reduces vibration and prevents rod wear and cabin contamination
  • Direct OEM-style replacement — part number 18218 E4102
  • Simple installation for restoration or routine maintenance
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 15-30 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • Flathead screwdriver
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • Small pick or trim tool
  • Silicone spray or mild lubricant
  • Clean rag
  • Clamp or small hose clamp (if original clip is damaged)
Instructions:
  1. Park on a level surface, set parking brake and disconnect the negative battery terminal if desired for safety.
  2. Locate the accelerator/throttle rod where it passes through the firewall in the engine bay and note how the old boot is seated and secured.
  3. Remove any retaining clip or clamp and slide off the old, brittle boot. Use pliers or a pick to free the boot if needed.
  4. Clean the rod and firewall bore with a rag; remove dirt, grease and old sealant so the new boot seats properly.
  5. Lightly spray or rub a thin film of silicone lubricant on the rod and inside lip of the new EPDM boot to aid installation.
  6. Slide the new boot onto the rod and press the flange into the firewall recess until fully seated. Ensure the boot’s tapered end fits snugly around the rod.
  7. Secure the boot with the original retaining clip or a replacement clamp. Operate the throttle several times to confirm free movement and check for proper seal.
  8. Reinstall any removed components, reconnect the battery if disconnected, and perform a final inspection for fit and function.
