The Precision Mirror Button Attachment PMB 12 512 is a direct-fit mirror button designed to restore a secure mounting point for interior rearview mirrors. It provides a durable, corrosion-resistant fastening surface that bonds to the windshield or glass pad and ensures proper alignment and reliable retention of the mirror assembly. Ideal for restoration or replacement projects, this attachment simplifies re-mounting while improving long-term stability and resistance to vibration.
Features:
  • Universal/aftermarket fit for many vehicles; check mirror bracket dimensions for compatibility.
  • Durable metal-plated construction with a corrosion-resistant finish for long service life.
  • Creates a secure mounting surface to fasten and align interior rearview mirrors.
  • Easy to install with common hand tools and standard windshield adhesive or two-part epoxy.
  • Ideal for restoration or replacement of old, damaged, or missing mirror buttons.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 30 minutes active, plus up to 24 hours adhesive cure time
Suggested Tools:
  • Isopropyl alcohol and clean lint-free cloths
  • Razor blade or adhesive removal tool
  • Marker and ruler or alignment template
  • Appropriate windshield-grade adhesive or two-part epoxy (manufacturer recommended)
  • Disposable applicator or syringe
  • Masking tape or low-profile clamp
  • Hex key or screwdriver for mirror bracket
  • Protective gloves and safety glasses
Instructions:
  1. Remove the mirror assembly from the existing button or windshield following the mirror manufacturer's instructions (loosen set screws and slide mirror off button).
  2. If replacing an old button, carefully remove residual adhesive from the glass using a razor blade or adhesive remover. Take care to avoid scratching the glass.
  3. Thoroughly clean the glass surface with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth; allow to dry completely.
  4. Mark the exact desired mounting position on the glass with a removable marker or use the old button location as reference. Verify mirror alignment from the driver's seat before bonding.
  5. Prepare the PMB 12 512 button and the adhesive per the adhesive manufacturer's directions. Apply a moderate, even bead of adhesive to the button face — do not overfill.
  6. Press the button firmly against the glass in the marked position. Use masking tape or a low-profile clamp to hold it in place and maintain correct alignment while the adhesive sets.
  7. Allow adhesive to cure for the full time recommended by the adhesive manufacturer (commonly 24 hours for full cure). Avoid disturbing the bond during this period and follow any temperature recommendations on the adhesive label.
  8. Once fully cured, remove tape/clamp, mount the mirror bracket onto the button, and tighten set screws to the mirror manufacturer's torque specification.
  9. Check mirror retention and alignment; allow adhesive to continue post-cure strength gains before subjecting the mirror to stress (adjustment or cleaning).
