Instructions:
- Verify fitment: compare new molding to the old part and ensure correct length and profile.
- Remove wiper arms and any lower exterior trim or cowl panels that block access to the molding area.
- Carefully remove the old underside molding. Use a plastic trim tool and razor to cut away adhesive or clips; take care not to damage the windshield edge or body paint.
- Clean the windshield lower edge and cowl flange thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol or adhesive cleaner. Remove all old adhesive, dirt, and debris; allow to dry.
- Test-fit the new molding by positioning it along the windshield lower edge and checking alignment. Trim excess length if necessary, following original part contours.
- If required by the vehicle or molding design, apply a thin bead of recommended weatherstrip adhesive to the retainer channel or windshield edge as instructed by the adhesive manufacturer.
- Seat the molding onto the windshield base starting from one end and working to the other. Use firm, even pressure and masking tape to hold the molding in place if needed. Use a heat gun or warm water to increase flexibility for tight curves (use low heat and avoid overheating).
- Reinstall any cowl panels, exterior trim, and wiper arms. Check for uniform fit and seal.
- Allow adhesive to cure per the adhesive manufacturer's recommendations before driving or exposing to moisture. Inspect for leaks after first wash or rain.
