Driver-side outer tail light assembly for 1975-1979 Chevrolet Corvette. This direct-fit, driver-quality replacement restores proper alignment, sealing, and function of the outer rear lamp while returning the vehicle's original appearance. Built for durability and reliable operation, the assembly protects bulbs and wiring from moisture and vibration and provides an OEM-style fit for restoration or maintenance projects. Easy to install and designed to work with factory mounting points, it’s ideal for restoring show condition or replacing a damaged original part.
Features:
- Fits 1975-1979 Chevrolet Corvette.
- Driver-quality reproduction that restores original fit, finish, and function.
- Designed to secure the lens and housing, protecting bulbs and wiring from moisture and vibration.
- Direct bolt-on replacement using factory mounting points — no cutting or modification required.
- Durable construction and corrosion-resistant mounting surfaces for long service life.
- Ideal for restorations, maintenance, or to replace cracked, faded, or damaged original units.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, set parking brake, and disconnect the negative battery terminal to avoid electrical shorts.
- Open the trunk and remove or fold back any access panels or interior carpet to expose the tail light mounting area.
- Remove the mounting screws or fasteners securing the outer tail light assembly. Keep hardware if reusing; inspect for corrosion and replace if necessary.
- Carefully pull the old assembly rearward and disconnect the bulb sockets or wiring harness by twisting or releasing the retaining tabs. Remove bulbs and gaskets if you plan to transfer them.
- Inspect the wiring and sockets for damage or corrosion. Clean contacts and apply dielectric grease if desired to improve conductivity and corrosion protection.
- Position the new outer tail light assembly into the mounting location, aligning the mounting holes with the factory studs or screw holes. Ensure any gasket or seal is seated properly to prevent water intrusion.
- Install and tighten the mounting screws evenly until snug — avoid over-torquing. Reinstall bulbs or plug the harness into the new assembly and verify lamp operation (tail, brake, turn signal).
- Replace access panels and trunk trim, reconnect the negative battery terminal, and perform a final check of all rear lighting functions and alignment.
