Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground and set parking brake. Protect painted surfaces with masking tape where you will work.
- If applicable, remove windshield wiper arms and any adjacent trim pieces that obstruct access to the molding following vehicle-specific procedures.
- Carefully pry off the old outer side molding using a soft trim removal tool or protected flat-blade screwdriver. Take care not to damage the paint or windshield bead. Use needle-nose pliers to remove any retained clips if needed.
- Thoroughly clean the windshield edge and surrounding body channel with isopropyl alcohol to remove old adhesive, road grime, and residue. Allow to dry.
- Test-fit the new molding into position to confirm orientation and clip alignment.
- If the new molding uses factory clips only, align and press it into the channel until all clips engage. If adhesive or urethane is required, apply a continuous bead per the sealant manufacturer’s instructions, then position the molding and press firmly into place.
- Secure the molding with light masking tape or clamps (as appropriate) while any adhesive cures. Follow sealant cure times recommended by the manufacturer.
- Reinstall any removed trim or wiper arms and verify the molding is seated evenly. Check for gaps and ensure there is no interference with the windshield or adjacent trim.
- After adhesive cures, remove temporary tape/clamps. Perform a water test (gentle hose spray) to confirm proper sealing and check for wind noise at low speed. Refer to the factory service manual for any vehicle-specific torque or fastening specifications.
