Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface, set parking brake, and wear gloves and eye protection.
- Carefully remove any exterior trim or clips that cover the windshield molding using a plastic trim tool to avoid scratching paint.
- Gently pry out the old molding starting at one corner; remove any retaining clips or screws as needed. Take care not to damage the windshield bead or paint.
- Clean the windshield channel and adjacent body area thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol or adhesive cleaner to remove dirt, old adhesive, and debris.
- Test-fit the new molding along the windshield edge to confirm orientation and clip alignment.
- If manufacturer recommendations call for adhesive, apply a thin bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the channel per product instructions. Otherwise, align the molding and press it firmly into place so clips or the retaining channel engage.
- Work along the length of the molding, pressing into position and seating any clips or fasteners. Use a soft cloth to press the molding into the seal to avoid marring finish.
- Reinstall any trim pieces or fasteners removed earlier and inspect the seal for gaps. Allow adhesive to cure if used (refer to adhesive manufacturer cure time).
- Test for leaks by running water over the windshield or performing a light pressurization test. If unsure about removal around the windshield bead, consult a professional installer.
