[More Info]
The Precision Windshield Lower Molding WLM F5680 is an OE-style lower windshield molding designed to secure and seal the base of the windshield, protect the glass edge, and provide a finished appearance. It helps align the windshield trim, reduce wind and water intrusion, and prevent corrosion at the pinch weld. Made for restoration and replacement projects, this molding offers long-lasting durability, reliable fitment where compatible, and straightforward installation for professional or DIY applications.
Features:
  • Designed as a direct OE-style replacement for compatible windshield lower trim applications.
  • Durable, weather-resistant material protects the windshield edge and underlying metal from moisture.
  • Secures and aligns windshield trim to reduce wind noise and leakage.
  • Helps prevent corrosion and water intrusion at the windshield base.
  • Easy to install — ideal for restoration, collision repair, or routine replacement.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • plastic trim removal tool
  • flathead screwdriver
  • isopropyl alcohol or panel cleaner
  • clean lint-free cloths
  • adhesive/sealant (if required by vehicle)
  • rubber mallet or soft-faced hammer
  • safety gloves
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on a level surface and wear safety gloves. Protect painted surfaces with tape or covers.
  2. Carefully remove any exterior trim clips or fasteners securing the old lower molding using a plastic trim tool or flathead screwdriver to avoid damaging paint.
  3. Gently pry and peel the old molding away from the windshield base. If adhesive was used, work slowly to break the bond and remove residual adhesive.
  4. Thoroughly clean the windshield channel and surrounding pinch weld with isopropyl alcohol or panel cleaner. Remove all dirt, old sealant, and adhesive residue and dry completely.
  5. Test-fit the new WLM F5680 molding along the windshield base to verify alignment and clip engagement before final installation.
  6. If required by the vehicle, apply a thin, even bead of recommended windshield adhesive/sealant to the channel per adhesive manufacturer instructions.
  7. Press the new molding into place, engaging all clips or retention features. Use a rubber mallet or soft-faced hammer with a protective block to seat the molding evenly without distortion.
  8. Reinstall any retained fasteners or trim pieces and wipe away any excess adhesive immediately. Allow adhesive/sealant to cure per the product instructions before driving.
  9. Perform a visual inspection and a gentle water test (spray around the windshield base) to confirm a proper seal and fit. Re-check after a short drive for any settling or gaps.
