Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface, disconnect battery if recommended, and wear safety gear.
- If required by vehicle design, remove exterior trim pieces and any clips or fasteners holding the molding.
- Carefully remove the windshield or loosen it per factory procedure if the molding is behind the glass; otherwise, pry out the old molding using trim tools, cutting adhesive where necessary with a utility knife.
- Clean the windshield channel and mating surfaces thoroughly with solvent to remove old adhesive, dirt, and rust. Allow surfaces to dry.
- Test-fit the new USM F6085 molding to confirm profile and length. Trim excess if necessary for an exact fit.
- Lubricate the sealing bead lightly with soapy water or a manufacturer-recommended lubricant to ease installation, if appropriate.
- Press the new molding into the channel, starting at one corner and working around the perimeter. Use a rubber mallet or hand pressure to seat the retention element securely without distorting the profile.
- Reinstall the windshield or any removed trim pieces following factory torque and sealant specifications. Apply any required adhesive or sealant as specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
- Inspect the installed molding for uniform seating, and allow any applied sealant to cure per product instructions. Test for leaks after curing (hose test).
