The Precision Windshield Molding WFS D1068 is an OE-style replacement windshield molding designed to seal and secure the windshield edge, protect the glass-to-body joint, and restore factory appearance. It provides a reliable barrier against water and wind intrusion, reduces wind noise, and maintains proper windshield alignment. Suitable for compatible vehicles (check fitment guide for exact makes and years), this durable molding is engineered for long-lasting performance and straightforward installation to support windshield replacement or restoration projects.
Features:
- OE-style replacement molding restores factory appearance and fit.
- Durable rubber profile with corrosion-resistant channel for long service life.
- Seals windshield edges to prevent leaks, wind noise, and water intrusion.
- Designed for straightforward installation during windshield replacement or trim restoration.
- Helps maintain proper windshield alignment and reduces vibration.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 60–120 minutes
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface, set parking brake, and protect surrounding trim with masking tape.
- Carefully remove the interior trim and any retaining clips or fasteners that obstruct access to the windshield molding.
- Use plastic trim tools and a protected flat-head screwdriver to pry out and remove the old molding. Cut away adhesive or degraded rubber with a razor blade as needed—work slowly to avoid damaging the paint or windshield flange.
- Clean the windshield flange and channel thoroughly with rubbing alcohol to remove old adhesive, dirt, and oils. Allow the area to dry.
- If the new molding requires clips or a metal channel, assemble those per the molding design before installation.
- Warm the new molding slightly with a heat gun or hair dryer (low setting) to increase flexibility for easier fitting.
- Start at the top center of the windshield and align the molding. Press the molding into the channel gradually, working outward toward each corner. Ensure clips engage or the channel seats fully as you go.
- Trim excess material at the corners or endpoints for a neat fit. Reinstall any retaining clips and interior trim removed earlier.
- If adhesive or urethane is required, apply as specified by the adhesive manufacturer and allow the recommended curing time before exposing the vehicle to weather or driving.
- Inspect the installed molding for uniform seating and test for leaks with a gentle water spray after adhesive has cured.
