Outer replacement panel engineered for the left (driver) side door on 1967 Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird models. This stamped steel door skin restores the original exterior contour, provides structural protection for the inner door components, and is intended for restoration or damage repair projects. Designed to match factory lines for a correct fit and finished surface, the panel improves durability and corrosion resistance when properly welded, sealed, and painted. Ideal for classic restorations where authentic appearance and long-term reliability are required.
Features:
- Fitment: 1967 Chevrolet Camaro and 1967 Pontiac Firebird — left hand (driver) side door skin.
- Stamped OEM-style steel reproduces factory contours and groove detail for an accurate fit and finish.
- Restores exterior appearance and protects inner door structure from corrosion and damage.
- Durable, corrosion-resistant steel; accepts welds, filler, primer, and paint for a factory-quality restoration.
- Designed for replacement applications — suitable for collision repair or full restoration projects.
- Requires basic bodywork and welding for secure, long-lasting installation; prepared surfaces allow for seamless finishing.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 2–4 hours (experienced technician); allow additional time for rust repair, welding, and finishing
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level surface, disconnect battery, and remove the door from hinges following factory procedures. Work in a well-ventilated area and use appropriate safety gear.
- Remove interior door panel, hardware, window regulator (if necessary), glass, and any weatherstripping so the inner door shell is accessible.
- Mark the cut/drill locations for the old skin’s spot welds. Use a spot weld cutter or drill to release the factory welds, then carefully separate and remove the damaged skin with a grinder or cutting wheel.
- Inspect inner door structure for rust or damage. Repair or replace any corroded flange areas, clean all mating surfaces, and apply rust inhibitor or metal prep.
- Test-fit the new door skin, aligning key reference points such as the latch area, hinge mounting edge, and outer seams. Trim or adjust as needed for a flush fit.
- Clamp the new skin in place and tack weld at several points to hold alignment. Check door gaps and panel fitment frequently, making small adjustments as required.
- Complete welds using short plug or stitch welds to minimize warpage. Allow cooling between welds and use a hammer/dolly to manage any distortion.
- Grind welds smooth, apply seam sealer to all internal and external seams, and feather weld areas with body filler where necessary for a smooth finish.
- Prime welded areas with epoxy primer to protect bare metal, block sand to final shape, then apply paint and clearcoat per finishing standards.
- Reinstall window, hardware, weatherstripping, interior trim, and hang the door on the vehicle. Adjust hinges and striker for correct alignment and operation. Reconnect battery and perform final checks.
