This left-hand lower hinge pillar / door post repair panel is a direct-fit restoration piece for 1967-1979 Ford trucks and 1978-1979 Broncos. Designed to replace corroded or damaged lower hinge pillars, it restores structural integrity to the door post, improves door alignment, and prevents water intrusion that leads to further rust. Formed from durable steel with factory-style contours, the panel provides a robust, long-lasting weld-in solution that simplifies restoration work while delivering reliable, rust-resistant performance.
Features:
  • Fits 1967-1979 Ford Truck and Bronco models — left-hand (driver-side) lower hinge pillar / door post.
  • Stamped from heavy-gauge steel to match original factory contours for accurate fit and alignment.
  • Weld-in repair panel restores door post strength and corrects sagging or misaligned doors.
  • Pre-formed design reduces fabrication time and simplifies installation for restoration projects.
  • Helps prevent water intrusion and future corrosion when properly welded and sealed.
  • Durable, long-lasting replacement that’s ideal for rust repair, collision repair, or full restorations.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 2-4 hours (varies with corrosion, access, and paint prep)
Suggested Tools:
  • Angle grinder with cutting and grinding discs
  • MIG or TIG welder
  • Welding clamps and magnets
  • Drill and spot-weld cutter or chisel
  • Hammer and dolly set
  • Seam sealer
  • Rust inhibitor/etch primer and paint
  • Body filler and sandpaper
  • Safety gear (welding helmet, gloves, eye protection, respirator)
Instructions:
  1. Assess the damage and confirm fitment by comparing the new panel to the existing hinge pillar.
  2. Remove the door or support it securely to prevent damage and allow full access to the hinge area.
  3. Mark and cut away the corroded or damaged section of the lower hinge pillar using a grinder or spot-weld cutter; preserve as much solid metal as possible.
  4. Clean and prepare mating surfaces: remove rust, paint, and debris; apply rust inhibitor if needed.
  5. Test-fit the repair panel, trim for precise gaps, and use clamps or magnets to hold it in position.
  6. Tack-weld the panel in several locations to verify alignment and door fit; adjust as needed before final welding.
  7. Complete full welds in short runs to minimize heat distortion, alternating weld locations and grinding between passes.
  8. Grind welds smooth, apply seam sealer to all joints, and feather weld areas with body filler where required.
  9. Prime exposed metal with an etch primer or rust-inhibiting primer, then paint to match surrounding areas.
  10. Reinstall or align the door, check hinge operation and gaps, and make final adjustments for proper fit and seal.
