This stamped-steel replacement floor pan is designed to restore the structural integrity, safety, and appearance of 1968–1972 GM A-Body vehicles. Intended for models such as Chevelle, Malibu, Cutlass, Skylark, LeMans and El Camino, the pan replaces corroded or damaged original floors to provide a solid foundation for seats, seat belts, and interior trim. The floor pan prevents water intrusion and road noise, aligns mounting points to factory dimensions, and improves chassis stiffness. Built from heavy-gauge steel with factory-style contours, it offers long-term durability and a reliable fit for restoration projects or rust repair, while being straightforward to install for anyone with basic metalwork and welding skills.
Features:
  • Fits 1968–1972 GM A-Body vehicles (Chevelle, Malibu, Cutlass, Skylark, LeMans, El Camino and other A-body models).
  • Measurements of panel are 59.25" x 53.5"
  • Manufactured from heavy-gauge stamped steel for OEM-like strength and durability.
  • Restores structural rigidity, factory mounting points, and interior floor contours.
  • Pre-formed to accept original seat and trim locations for straightforward reassembly.
  • Prevents water intrusion and reduces road noise and vibration when properly installed.
  • Designed for weld-in installation—ideal for restoration and rust-repair applications.
  • Corrosion-resistant finish available; ready for seam sealing, priming and undercoating.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 4/5
  • Estimated time: 4–8 hours (professional); 1–2 days (DIY, includes prep and finishing)
Suggested Tools:
  • MIG welder and welding supplies
  • Angle grinder with cutoff and grinding wheels
  • Spot-weld cutter or drill
  • Clamps and locking pliers
  • Body hammer and dolly
  • Measuring tape and straight edge
  • Seam sealer and applicator
  • Rust-inhibiting primer and undercoating
  • Safety gear (welding helmet, gloves, eye protection)
Instructions:
  1. Disconnect the battery and remove seats, carpet, console, and any trim obstructing the floor pan.
  2. Inspect and mark original spot-weld locations and areas of corrosion; take photos for reference.
  3. Use a spot-weld cutter or drill to remove factory spot welds, then cut out the damaged floor pan with an angle grinder, preserving as much of the surrounding flange as possible.
  4. Clean and prepare the surrounding metal: grind back to good metal, treat remaining rust, and check for rot in structural seams or rocker areas.
  5. Trial-fit the new floor pan, aligning it to existing mounting points and body contours; trim or notch as required for a precise fit.
  6. Clamp the panel into position and tack-weld at multiple points to verify fit and maintain alignment.
  7. Complete welds using stitch or plug welding techniques to minimize heat distortion; weld progressively from center outward.
  8. Grind welds smooth where necessary, then apply seam sealer to all joints and overlaps to ensure a watertight bond.
  9. Prime bare metal with a rust-inhibiting primer and apply an undercoating to the underside for corrosion protection.
  10. Reinstall sound-deadening, carpet, seats and interior trim; torque seat and safety hardware to factory specifications and test for fit and leaks.
