This rear window weatherstrip seal is a direct-fit replacement for 1964-1968 Ford Mustang rear windows. Designed to work with the chrome trim that inserts into body clips (WCR 3299), it seals and secures the rear glass to prevent water intrusion, reduce wind noise, and protect the body opening from corrosion. Made from weather-resistant rubber with an OEM-style profile, it restores factory fit and finish while offering durable, long-lasting performance and straightforward installation for restorations and maintenance projects.
Features:
- Fits 1964-1968 Ford Mustang rear window (works with chrome trim that inserts into body clips)
- OEM-style weather-resistant rubber construction (EPDM-like) for lasting durability
- Designed to accept chrome trim that inserts into vehicle body clips for secure fitment
- Seals rear glass to prevent water leaks, reduce wind noise, and block road grime
- Helps protect body opening from corrosion and restores factory appearance
- Easy to install for restoration or routine replacement; reliable, precise fit
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 45-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Carefully remove the chrome trim and old weatherstrip: pry trim straight outward from body clips using a plastic trim tool or a protected flat-head screwdriver to avoid marring the finish.
- Remove the old seal and any remaining gasket material from the window channel. Use a rag and isopropyl alcohol to clean the channel thoroughly; allow to dry.
- Inspect body clips and stud locations for damage or corrosion. Replace any broken clips before installing the new seal.
- Test-fit the new weatherstrip onto the glass and along the channel to verify orientation and fit, noting where body clips align with the trim insertion area.
- Apply a light coat of soapy water or silicone lubricant to the seal lip to ease installation (do not use petroleum-based products).
- Starting at one corner, press the new weatherstrip into the window channel, working around the opening and aligning the seal with the body clip locations. Use firm hand pressure and a soft mallet only if necessary to seat the seal.
- Reinstall the chrome trim by aligning it with the seal and pressing it into the body clips so the trim’s insertion edge fully engages the clips and compresses the seal evenly.
- Inspect the perimeter for gaps and ensure the glass is properly seated. Clean excess lubricant and test for leaks by gently spraying water around the seal.
- Allow the assembly to set (per any lubricant instructions) and re-check trim tightness and seal integrity before road use.
