Direct-fit replacement foam for 1971-1972 GM car bucket seats that restores original contours, comfort, and support. Precision-cut high-density foam rebuilds seat shape, reduces sag and vibration, and provides long-lasting durability for classic car restorations. Designed to work with original upholstery patterns to simplify reassembly and deliver reliable, restored seating performance.
Features:
  • Fits 1971-1972 GM passenger cars with factory bucket seats (e.g., Chevelle, Monte Carlo, Cutlass).
  • High-density polyurethane foam engineered to restore original seat contours and support.
  • Reduces seat sag and vibration for improved comfort and driving feel.
  • Pre-shaped to match OE dimensions for easier upholstery fitment and accurate restoration.
  • Durable, resilient construction resists long-term compression and breakdown.
  • Ideal for restoration and replacement projects to return seats to factory specifications.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 1-2 hours per seat
Suggested Tools:
  • Socket set and ratchet
  • Flathead and Phillips screwdrivers
  • Trim removal tools
  • Hog ring pliers and hog rings
  • Upholstery adhesive spray (optional)
  • Utility knife or heavy-duty scissors
  • Marker and work gloves
Instructions:
  1. Disconnect the battery (if seat has electrical components) and remove the seat from the vehicle using the appropriate sockets and ratchet.
  2. Flip the seat and remove trim, seat track covers, and any retaining hardware to expose the upholstery attachment points.
  3. Carefully detach the upholstery from the frame by removing hog rings or fasteners; mark or photograph orientations for correct reassembly.
  4. Remove the old foam and clean the seat frame, removing any debris, rust, or adhesive residue.
  5. Test-fit the new foam onto the frame to confirm alignment with upholstery attachment points and make minor trims if necessary.
  6. If needed, apply a light, even coat of upholstery adhesive to bond foam to the frame—allow recommended flash time per adhesive instructions.
  7. Reinstall the upholstery over the new foam, securing it with hog rings or original fasteners in the original locations.
  8. Reattach trim pieces and reinstall the seat into the vehicle. Reconnect any electrical connections and test functionality.
