A 4-piece left and right vent glass weatherstrip seal kit designed for 1968 Volkswagen 2-door sedans. These precision-molded rubber seals restore the vent window edge seal to stop wind noise, water leaks and rattles while protecting the vent glass and surrounding trim. Made to match original profiles for an accurate fit, the kit improves cabin comfort, prevents interior water damage, and provides long-lasting resistance to ozone and weathering. Ideal for restoration, maintenance, or replacement of worn vent seals, the set delivers reliable durability and straightforward installation.
Features:
- Fits 1968 Volkswagen 2-door sedans (left and right vent glass)
- Four-piece kit includes both left and right vent window seals for complete replacement
- Made from durable, weather-resistant EPDM-style rubber for long life and UV/ozone resistance
- Restores a tight seal to prevent water leaks, reduce wind noise, and minimize vibration
- OEM-style profile for accurate fit and proper alignment with vent glass and channels
- Easy to install — designed for restoration and routine replacement applications
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Work on one vent at a time; lower windows and remove any interior trim that blocks access to the vent area.
- Carefully remove the old weatherstrip by prying it out of the channel with a trim tool; remove any clips or retainers if present.
- Clean the channel and mating surfaces thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol or a mild solvent to remove old adhesive, dirt, and debris. Allow to dry.
- Test-fit the new seal to confirm orientation and fit. Trim excess length if necessary, leaving a small overlap if the design calls for it.
- If using adhesive, apply a thin bead to the channel or back of the seal per the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions. Start at one end and press the seal into place along the channel.
- Seat the seal fully by pressing along its length. Use a rubber mallet or plastic block to tap the seal into tight contact without deforming the rubber.
- Secure with masking tape or temporary clips while adhesive cures (follow adhesive cure time). Wipe away any excess adhesive immediately with a clean cloth and solvent if compatible.
- Reinstall any removed trim, check vent window operation, and verify there are no leaks by lightly spraying water around the vent and checking for intrusion. Repeat for the other side.
