Forgotten Facts: Humble Beginnings

Humble Hub Beginnings: Relying on handcrafted components and dealing with the pitfalls of then-unproven fiberglass body panels, construction of the initial 300 Chevrolet Corvettes was documented as a chaotic affair inside a Flint, Michigan plant. The first production was completed after 3 days of 16-hour shifts, the car rolled with an improvised appearance. Lacking the intended knock-off wheel covers developed for the car, the first Corvette left the assembly line wearing hubcaps used for the Chevrolet Bel Air.
