Tailgate Weatherstrip Seal GWL 2130 66 is a direct-fit replacement seal designed to restore the weather-tight seal on 1966–1977 Ford Bronco tailgates. Molded from a durable EPDM rubber compound, this seal keeps out water, dust, and road noise while reducing vibration and preventing body damage or rust at the tailgate interface. Engineered for a near-OEM fit, it provides long-lasting flexibility and UV/ozone resistance for reliable performance during restoration or routine maintenance.
Features:
- Fits 1966–1977 Ford Bronco tailgates (direct replacement).
- Part number GWL 2130 66 for accurate identification and fit.
- Made from durable EPDM rubber for long service life and weather resistance.
- Seals against water, dust, and wind noise to protect the bed and tailgate area.
- Helps reduce vibration and prevents paint damage and corrosion at the tailgate seam.
- Easy to install for restoration projects or routine replacement; trims to fit if necessary.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Instructions:
- Open the tailgate and carefully remove the old weatherstrip by prying out retaining tabs or adhesive. Keep any metal retainer pieces if present.
- Clean the channel and mating surfaces thoroughly with rubbing alcohol or an appropriate cleaner to remove old adhesive, dirt, and grease. Let dry completely.
- Dry-fit the new weatherstrip into the channel to confirm orientation and length. Trim any excess with scissors or a utility knife for a precise fit.
- Apply a thin, even bead of weatherstrip adhesive into the channel or on the seal per the adhesive manufacturer’s directions (if adhesive is used).
- Starting at one end, press the new seal firmly into the channel working along the length, ensuring the bulb and sealing lip seat correctly. Use a trim tool or flathead to seat any hard-to-reach sections.
- Secure the seal in place with small strips of masking tape while adhesive cures, if adhesive was applied. Wipe away any excess adhesive immediately.
- Once cured, remove masking tape, check the tailgate operation and alignment, and make any final trim adjustments. Reinstall any retained hardware and test for leaks and proper sealing.
