Suggested Tools:
  • Plastic trim removal tool
  • Flathead screwdriver
  • Phillips screwdriver or small socket set (if applicable)
  • Rubber mallet or soft-faced hammer
  • Clean rag and isopropyl alcohol
  • Replacement trim clips (if old clips are damaged)
Instructions:
  1. Prepare the work area: park on level ground, lower the window (if applicable), and protect surrounding paint with masking tape.
  2. Remove old molding: carefully pry out the existing molding using a plastic trim tool and flathead screwdriver to avoid scratching the channel. Save any reusable clips.
  3. Clean the channel: remove old adhesive, dirt, and corrosion with a rag and isopropyl alcohol. Ensure the channel is dry and free of debris.
  4. Test-fit the new molding: position the molding in the channel to verify alignment and clip placement before fully seating it.
  5. Install clips (if required): install new or reused clips on the molding per original locations.
  6. Seat the molding: align the leading edge, then press the molding into the channel along its length. Use a rubber mallet or firm hand pressure to engage clips and ensure a flush fit.
  7. Secure and inspect: reinstall any screws or fasteners if applicable, wipe away fingerprints, and inspect for gaps or misalignment. Adjust as needed.
  8. Final check: cycle the window (if applicable) to confirm no interference and allow any adhesives to set per manufacturer recommendations.
