Instructions:
- Remove the interior door panel and any trim that blocks access to the weatherstrip channel (if applicable).
- Carefully peel out the old weatherstrip and remove any retained metal clips or adhesive residue with a trim tool and pliers.
- Thoroughly clean the weatherstrip channel and mating surfaces with rubbing alcohol or an appropriate cleaner; allow to dry.
- Dry-fit the new weatherstrip pieces to confirm orientation and fit; trim excess length if necessary.
- If the replacement requires adhesive, apply a thin, even bead of weatherstrip adhesive to the channel or seal per the adhesive manufacturer’s directions.
- Starting at the top hinge area, press the new weatherstrip into the channel and work around the door, seating the retention bead fully into the channel. Use masking tape to hold sections in place if needed.
- Trim and tuck the ends neatly; reinstall any retainers or clips removed earlier.
- Reinstall the door panel and test door closure; check for even compression of the seal and make minor adjustments as needed. If adhesive was used, allow recommended cure time before exposing to moisture or heavy use.
