Precision Door Glass, Tempered Left or Right Hand Clear 4236 S CLN is a direct replacement tempered door window designed to restore visibility, weather sealing, and safe operation for doors that accept the 4236 S CLN specification. Tempered construction increases strength and reduces hazard by breaking into small, less dangerous pieces on impact. This clear glass provides OEM-style clarity and edge finish for proper fit in window channels and regulators, helping maintain door alignment and reduce wind noise and leaks. Ideal for repair and restoration projects, it offers durable, reliable performance and straightforward installation when matching vehicle fitment is confirmed.
Features:
- Fits vehicles requiring part specification 4236 S CLN (confirm fitment before purchase).
- Made from tempered clear automotive glass for strength and safer breakage characteristics.
- Suitable for left-hand or right-hand door application — same part serves both sides when fitment allows.
- Restores proper window sealing, reduces wind noise and water intrusion, and improves visibility.
- Pre-finished edges and factory-style dimensions for reliable fit with most regulators and channels.
- Durable replacement ideal for vehicle restoration, maintenance, or accident repair.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 3/5
- Estimated time: 45–90 minutes
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface, engage parking brake, and disconnect the negative battery terminal if working near powered windows.
- Remove interior door panel: pry off trim, remove screws and disconnect switches and courtesy light connectors. Carefully pull panel away to access the door interior.
- Peel back the vapor barrier or insulation sheet to expose the inside of the door shell and window regulator.
- Manually lower or raise the regulator until the glass mounting bolts or clamps are accessible. Support the glass with a helper, suction cups, or masking tape if still present.
- Remove the mounting bolts/clamps that secure the glass to the regulator. Carefully lift out the damaged or old glass through the top of the door shell, taking care to avoid sharp edges.
- Inspect and clean window channels and regulator components; remove debris, rust, or adhesive residue. Replace worn clips or felt channel liners if necessary.
- Carefully insert the new tempered glass into the door through the top opening, angling it into the regulator channels. Ensure the glass seats evenly in both upper and lower tracks.
- Align the glass with the regulator mounting points and hand-thread the mounting bolts/clamps. Tighten to manufacturer torque specifications, avoiding over-tightening.
- Reconnect any window switches or connectors temporarily and reconnect the battery (if disconnected). Operate the window up and down to check smooth movement and proper alignment. Adjust as needed.
- Once satisfied with operation, reapply the vapor barrier, reinstall the door panel and trim, reconnect electrical connectors, and secure all fasteners.
- Clean the new glass with appropriate glass cleaner and inspect the door for proper sealing and function.
