A precision glass setting block designed to position and support automotive glass during installation and replacement. Molded from a durable, resilient rubber compound, this block maintains consistent glass height, reduces stress and vibration, and helps ensure an even urethane seal for long-lasting, leak-free performance. Ideal for windshield, backlite, and side glass fitment in restoration and repair applications, it simplifies alignment and improves overall installation reliability.
Features:
- Precision Glass Setting Block 5304 001 — universal use for automotive glass installations (windshield, backlite, side glass).
- Molded from a durable, resilient rubber/EPDM compound for long service life and resistance to compression set.
- Provides consistent glass-to-pinchweld spacing to prevent stress cracks and ensure correct sealant thickness.
- Helps reduce vibration, rattles, and wind noise by cushioning the glass against the body flange.
- Easy to position during urethane installations; supports proper bead height and alignment for leak-free seals.
- Ideal for restoration, replacement, and professional or DIY glass installation work.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 15-30 minutes
Instructions:
- Wear safety gloves and have a helper or use suction cups to safely handle the glass.
- Clean the pinchweld flange and glass seating area; remove old adhesive and contaminants.
- Measure the required glass set height per vehicle specification or use common OEM locations (lower corners and center) as reference.
- Apply the urethane adhesive bead to the pinchweld according to the urethane manufacturer’s instructions.
- Place the glass setting blocks onto the pinchweld at the recommended locations (typically lower corners and one or more center points) to establish proper spacing.
- Carefully lower the glass onto the adhesive and blocks, using suction cups or a helper to control alignment.
- Adjust the glass until it is seated squarely and uniformly on the blocks, ensuring consistent compression of the urethane bead.
- Allow the urethane to cure per the adhesive manufacturer’s specified time before driving or removing temporary supports.
- After cure, trim any exposed portion of the setting blocks if required and perform a final inspection for uniform gaps and proper sealing.
