Precision Glass Setting Tape (GST 001) is a 1/16" high-density foam setting tape designed to provide consistent spacing, cushioning, and temporary positioning when installing automotive glass. It helps prevent glass-to-metal contact, reduces vibration, and aids in aligning glass during adhesive cure. Rugged, pressure-sensitive adhesive ensures reliable hold in restoration and replacement applications while remaining easy to cut and apply.

  • Difficulty: 2/5

Suggested Tools:
  • Isopropyl alcohol and lint-free cloth
  • Scissors or utility knife
  • Tape measure or ruler
  • Hand roller or firm press
  • Gloves
  • Optional: primer or adhesive as required by glass manufacturer
Instructions:
  1. Remove any old tape, adhesive, and contaminants from the glass flange and glass edge.
  2. Clean the surfaces thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol and allow to dry.
  3. Measure the length needed and cut tape strips to fit the glass perimeter or flange as required.
  4. Peel back the release liner and align the tape along the glass edge or frame where spacing/support is needed.
  5. Press the tape firmly into place using a hand roller or firm pressure to ensure full contact of the adhesive.
  6. If using urethane or structural adhesive, follow the adhesive manufacturer's instructions for application and cure; the tape provides spacing and temporary support during cure.
  7. Verify alignment and seating of the glass before adhesive fully cures; replace tape if repositioning is necessary.
