Instructions:
- Open the trunk and remove the old weatherstrip: pry out any retaining clips or pull the old seal out of the channel.
- Inspect the mounting channel and trunk flange for rust, damage or old adhesive; sand and repair any rough spots.
- Clean the channel thoroughly with rubbing alcohol or an appropriate cleaner and allow it to dry completely.
- Test-fit the new TS 122 SA seal along the trunk opening to ensure the profile and length match; trim the ends only if necessary.
- If the original design used adhesive or butyl tape, apply a thin bead of weatherstrip adhesive or attach butyl tape to the retainer per product directions.
- Starting at one corner, press the new seal into the channel or onto the mounting flange, ensuring the retainer seats fully. Work around the trunk opening and smooth the seal into place.
- Trim any excess material at the ends and securely join any mating ends per the seal design.
- Close the trunk slowly to check for proper alignment and even compression; make small positional adjustments if needed.
- Allow any adhesive to cure per the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions before exposing the seal to moisture or heavy use. Re-check seal compression and re-tighten any hardware if applicable.
