Instructions:
- Measure the channel length needed and mark both the seal and vehicle edge; allow extra length for overlap if required.
- Clean the mounting flange or edge thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol or degreaser; remove rust, paint flakes and debris so the U-channel seats fully.
- Trim the bulb seal to length using a hacksaw or heavy-duty cutters; deburr cut ends with a file or utility knife for a smooth finish.
- Optional: apply a light coat of soapy water or silicone spray to the channel and vehicle edge to ease installation (avoid petroleum-based products that can degrade some rubbers).
- Align the U-channel opening with the metal edge and push the channel onto the flange. Start at one end and work along the length, pressing the rubber-covered wire core over the edge. Use a rubber mallet or wooden block to tap the seal into place if necessary.
- Check seating along the entire length to ensure the wire core is fully engaged on the flange and the bulb compresses evenly.
- Trim any excess at the ends for a neat fit. For exposed ends or cut corners, consider using end caps or a small bead of weatherstrip adhesive to prevent movement.
- Inspect the installation for gaps and test the door/hood/trunk operation to make sure the seal does not interfere with latching or closure. Adjust or trim as needed.
