Instructions:
- Measure the length of the channel or flange where the seal will be installed; add 1/2–1 inch for overlap if desired.
- Clean the mounting flange thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol to remove dirt, grease and old adhesive.
- Cut the seal to the measured length using a utility knife or heavy-duty scissors; cut slowly for a clean edge.
- If installing around corners or curves, warm the seal with a heat gun on low for a few seconds to make it more pliable (optional).
- Position the U-channel over the flange so the wire core grips the metal; align the bulb so it compresses against the mating surface.
- Push the seal onto the flange working along its length. Use pliers or a rubber mallet to seat the channel fully if necessary.
- Trim any excess and overlap or butt the ends as appropriate; apply a small bead of adhesive or seam sealant at the ends for a permanent finish if desired.
- Close the door/panel and check for proper compression and clearance; make minor adjustments as needed to avoid binding.
