This 4-piece vent glass weatherstrip seal kit (left and right) restores the original watertight seal for vent windows on 1968 Volkswagen 2-door sedans (VWK 1210 68). Precision-molded rubber profiles replace worn or cracked seals to stop water intrusion, reduce wind noise and vibration, and improve window alignment. Built from durable weather-resistant rubber, the kit provides a reliable, long-lasting restoration solution that preserves vehicle appearance and function while remaining straightforward to install for a professional or experienced DIYer.
Features:
- Fits 1968 Volkswagen 2-door sedans (VWK 1210 68); left and right vent glass — 4-piece kit.
- Precision-molded EPDM/weather-resistant rubber for long-term durability and UV resistance.
- Replaces cracked, hardened, or missing vent window seals to prevent leaks and reduce wind noise.
- Direct-fit restoration part designed to match original profiles and maintain proper window alignment.
- Easy to install with basic hand tools; suitable for restoration or maintenance projects.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 45 minutes to 1.5 hours (whole kit)
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface and work in a well-lit area. Lower or remove vent glass per vehicle service procedure to access seals.
- Carefully remove old weatherstrips by prying out retained beads and pulling old rubber free. Keep track of any clips or retainers.
- Thoroughly clean the sealing channel and surrounding metal with rubbing alcohol or a mild solvent to remove adhesive, dirt, and residue. Allow to dry.
- Test-fit the new seals to each vent window to confirm correct orientation (left/right) and fit. Trim any excess only if necessary.
- If using adhesive, apply a thin, even bead to the channel or seal per the adhesive manufacturer's directions. For many installations the seals press-fit without adhesive; use adhesive where original design used it or where mobility is suspected.
- Begin seating the seal at the top corner of the vent channel and work around, pressing the bead firmly into the channel. Use a plastic trim tool or your thumb to fully engage the seal and avoid twisting or stretching the rubber.
- Reinstall the vent glass and any hardware, verifying smooth operation and that the glass seats evenly against the new seals.
- Trim any excess material and wipe away any adhesive squeeze-out. Allow any adhesive to cure per instructions before driving (typically 24 hours). Recheck for leaks and adjust if needed.
