Precision Windshield Weatherstrip Seal Without Trim Groove WBL 496 is a durable replacement rubber seal designed to create a watertight, vibration-damping barrier between windshield glass and the body flange on vehicles that use a glue-in or snap-fit seal without a metal trim groove. Its primary purpose is to prevent leaks, wind noise, and road vibration while restoring proper glass alignment and finish. Made from resilient EPDM-style rubber compound, this seal resists UV, ozone, and temperature extremes for long-lasting performance and reliable fitment—check part number WBL 496 against your vehicle to confirm compatibility before installation.
Features:
  • Made from durable EPDM-style rubber for UV, ozone, and temperature resistance.
  • Designed for windshield openings that accept a seal without a trim groove (WBL 496 profile).
  • Creates a watertight seal to prevent leaks and reduce wind noise.
  • Helps cushion and align the windshield, reducing vibration and rattles.
  • Straightforward installation for most replacement jobs; restores factory-like fit and appearance.
  • Ideal for restoration and maintenance projects where original-style seals are required.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 30–90 minutes (may vary if windshield removal is required)
Suggested Tools:
  • Trim/panel removal tool or plastic pry bar
  • Utility knife or razor blade
  • Rubbing alcohol or adhesive cleaner
  • Lint-free cloths
  • Weatherstrip adhesive or urethane windshield adhesive (if required)
  • Masking tape
  • Gloves and safety glasses
  • Lubricant (soapy water or silicone spray) for easier seating
Instructions:
  1. Confirm fit: verify WBL 496 matches the original seal profile and vehicle opening before beginning.
  2. Remove the old seal: carefully pry out the existing weatherstrip. If windshield removal is required, consider professional glass removal to avoid damage.
  3. Clean the flange and channel: remove all old adhesive, dirt, and seal remnants using a razor blade and adhesive cleaner; wipe with rubbing alcohol and let dry.
  4. Test-fit the new seal: align the new weatherstrip around the opening to ensure correct orientation and length; trim excess if needed with a utility knife.
  5. Apply adhesive if required: follow the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions—apply a continuous bead or spots where specified and allow recommended tack time.
  6. Seat the seal: starting at one corner, press the seal into the flange/channel, working around the perimeter. Use soapy water or silicone spray to ease positioning if needed.
  7. Secure and cure: use light masking tape to hold the seal in place where necessary and allow adhesive to cure per product directions (typically several hours).
  8. Final check: inspect the seal for uniform contact, test for leaks after curing, and reinstall any trim or molding previously removed.
