These replacement screws are designed to securely fasten the AC evaporator box resistor and relay in classic GM passenger cars from 1938 through 1983. They restore proper mounting and electrical grounding for HVAC control components, preventing vibration, loosening, and intermittent connections. Manufactured from corrosion-resistant metal for long-term durability, the screws are an easy, direct-fit solution for restoration projects and routine maintenance, helping ensure reliable climate control operation and a correct, factory-like assembly.
Features:
  • Fitment: Direct-fit for 1938-1983 GM passenger cars (various Chevrolet, Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Cadillac models).
  • Corrosion-resistant metal construction for long-lasting durability.
  • Designed to secure the evaporator box resistor and relay, preventing vibration and loose electrical connections.
  • Easy, direct-replacement fasteners ideal for restoration and HVAC maintenance.
  • Restores factory-style mounting for improved reliability and proper grounding.
  • Small size and standard threads make installation quick with common hand tools.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 15-30 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • Phillips screwdriver or flathead (depending on screw head)
  • 10mm or 1/4" socket and ratchet (if applicable)
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • Penetrating oil (if removing rusted screws)
  • Anti-seize or threadlocker (optional)
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on level ground, set parking brake, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent shorts.
  2. Locate the AC evaporator box assembly (under-dash or in the engine compartment depending on model year). Remove any trim panels or covers to access the resistor and relay mounting area.
  3. If reusing old screws, spray penetrating oil on seized fasteners and allow to soak. Carefully remove existing screws using the appropriate screwdriver or socket.
  4. Clean the mounting holes and mating surfaces of debris and corrosion. Inspect the resistor and relay mounting tabs for damage.
  5. Optionally apply a small amount of anti-seize to screw threads for future removal, or use a medium-strength threadlocker for a permanent hold.
  6. Position the resistor and relay on the evaporator box mounting points, align holes, and install the replacement screws. Tighten evenly until snug—do not over-torque to avoid stripping threads or damaging components.
  7. Reinstall any removed panels or trim, reconnect the negative battery cable, and test the HVAC system for proper operation and secure mounting.
