A precision staple kit designed to secure fender skirt seals on 1955-1957 Ford Thunderbirds. The kit supplies durable, corrosion-resistant staples sized to fasten weatherstripping and hold fender skirts tight to the body, preventing seal migration, rattles, and moisture intrusion. Ideal for restorations or routine replacements, this kit simplifies re-securing seals for a factory-fit appearance while offering long-lasting reliability and straightforward installation with common hand tools.
Features:
  • Fits 1955-1957 Ford Thunderbird fender skirts.
  • Includes corrosion-resistant steel staples sized for fender skirt seals.
  • Secures and aligns the weatherstrip to prevent movement and reduce vibration.
  • Easy to install with basic hand tools for a restoration-quality finish.
  • Built for durability to resist rust and maintain long-term seal retention.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • Flathead screwdriver or trim removal tool
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • Hammer
  • Center punch or awl (optional)
  • Drill with 1/16" bit (optional for pilot holes)
  • Measuring tape or ruler
  • Marker or grease pencil
  • Safety glasses
Instructions:
  1. Park the vehicle on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and wear safety glasses.
  2. Remove the fender skirt (if applicable) and peel away the old weatherstrip and remaining staples using a flathead screwdriver and pliers.
  3. Clean the mating surface and fender skirt flange to remove old adhesive, rust, and debris so the seal sits flush.
  4. Position the new or existing seal along the fender skirt and align it with the vehicle body. Use a marker to note staple intervals (typical spacing 3–6 inches).
  5. Optional: use a center punch or a 1/16" drill bit to create small pilot holes at the marked locations for easier staple entry on hardened panels.
  6. Starting at one end, insert a staple through the seal into the flange and set it flush with a hammer or pliers. Repeat at each marked location, keeping staples evenly spaced and the seal tensioned but not stretched.
  7. Trim any excess seal material and re-seat the fender skirt on the vehicle. Verify alignment and that the skirt sits evenly without gaps or binding.
  8. Re-tighten any skirt fasteners removed earlier and inspect all staples to ensure they are secure and not protruding.
