1964-1967 GM A-Body Coupe / Hardtop Right Inner Wheelhouse engineered as a direct weld-in replacement to restore the wheelwell area, trunk protection, and structural integrity. Built from heavy-gauge steel with factory-correct contours, this inner wheelhouse provides a precise fit for accurate alignment and easier installation during restorations. It protects the surrounding sheetmetal from road debris and moisture, helps prevent future rust, and returns original support for the rear suspension and body panels. Ideal for full restorations or targeted repairs, the panel delivers durability, reliability, and a correct foundation for finishing with primer and paint.
Features:
  • Fits 1964-1967 GM A-Body Coupes and Hardtops (right/rear inner wheelhouse)
  • Fabricated from heavy-gauge steel with OE-correct contours for an accurate fit
  • Direct weld-in replacement restores structural integrity and wheelwell protection
  • Pre-formed to minimize fabrication and alignment time during installation
  • Designed to prevent water intrusion and future corrosion when properly sealed
  • Ideal for restoration projects and replacing rusted or damaged inner wheelhouse panels
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 4/5
  • Estimated time: 2-4 hours (depending on rust removal and welding experience)
Suggested Tools:
  • MIG or TIG welder
  • Angle grinder with cutting and grinding discs
  • Spot-weld cutter or drill with spot-weld bits
  • Clamps and C-stands
  • Hammer and dolly
  • Wire brush or grinder wire wheel
  • Seam sealer and applicator
  • Rust inhibitor/primer and paint
  • Measuring tape and marker
  • Safety gear (gloves, eye protection, welding helmet)
  • Jack stands or lift
Instructions:
  1. Safety first: park on level surface, disconnect battery, support vehicle securely on jack stands and remove the rear wheel and any interior trim or panels obstructing access.
  2. Inspect and mark the damaged or rusted area; identify spot weld locations and any adjoining panels that may need removal or support.
  3. Use a spot-weld cutter or drill to remove factory spot welds, and an angle grinder to cut away the corroded section of the old inner wheelhouse. Preserve adjacent structure where possible.
  4. Test-fit the replacement inner wheelhouse, trimming as necessary for precise alignment with existing flange locations and body gaps.
  5. Prepare mating surfaces by cleaning to bare metal, removing scale and rust, and treating with a rust inhibitor to ensure a long-lasting bond.
  6. Clamp the new panel in place and tack-weld at multiple points to verify fit and alignment. Check wheel clearance and panel gaps before final welding.
  7. Finish weld the perimeter using short stitch welds or continuous welds as appropriate for strength and to replicate factory seams. Avoid excessive heat build-up to prevent warping.
  8. Grind welds smooth where desired, re-seat or reshape any adjoining panels with hammer/dolly as needed for a factory contour.
  9. Apply seam sealer to all welded joints, coat with a zinc-rich primer or rust-inhibiting primer, and complete with paint or undercoating suited to the wheelwell environment.
  10. Reinstall removed trim, wheel, and any interior pieces, then test drive and inspect for fitment and noise or vibration issues.
