Upper control arm ball joint castle nut designed for 1967–1969 Camaro and Firebird front suspensions. Its primary purpose is to securely fasten the upper ball joint stud to the control arm while allowing use of a cotter pin for fail-safe retention. Made from precision-formed steel with a corrosion-resistant finish, this castle nut offers long-lasting reliability, easy installation, and peace of mind for restoration and maintenance projects.
Features:
  • Fits 1967–1969 Camaro and Firebird models.
  • Precision-formed steel construction for strength and dependability.
  • Castle slot allows cotter pin installation to prevent loosening.
  • Corrosion-resistant finish protects against rust and wear.
  • Ideal for restorations, replacements, and routine suspension maintenance.
  • Simple swap-in part that complements upper control arm and ball joint rebuilds.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 15-30 minutes (per side)
Suggested Tools:
  • Jack and jack stands
  • Wheel chocks
  • Socket or wrench set
  • Torque wrench
  • Pliers
  • Cotter pins (correct size)
  • Hammer and punch (optional)
  • Penetrating oil (if removing old hardware)
Instructions:
  1. Secure vehicle on level ground, chock wheels, raise vehicle and support with jack stands; remove wheel for access.
  2. If replacing an existing nut, remove the dust cap and cotter pin, then loosen and remove the old castle nut.
  3. Clean the ball joint stud and control arm threads; apply light anti-seize if desired and recommended.
  4. Thread the new castle nut onto the ball joint stud by hand until snug.
  5. Use a torque wrench to tighten the nut to the manufacturer's specified torque for your vehicle (consult factory manual).
  6. If the nut slots do not align with the cotter pin hole at exact torque, tighten to the next slot that allows proper alignment without exceeding the maximum recommended torque.
  7. Insert a correctly sized cotter pin through the slot and hole, then bend the ends of the cotter pin to secure it.
  8. Reinstall dust cap if applicable, remount the wheel, lower the vehicle, and perform a final safety check.
