Direct-fit inner rear wheelhouse for 1967–1972 Chevy Fleetside pickup trucks, designed to replace corroded or damaged wheel tubs and restore factory fit and function. This panel protects the inner wheelwell from road debris and moisture, preserves structural integrity of the bed area, and provides a durable foundation for finishing and painting. Built to match original contours and mounting points, it simplifies restorations and repairs while offering long-lasting reliability and ease of installation for experienced DIYers or professional shops.
Features:
  • Fitment: 1967–1972 Chevy Truck Fleetside models (left or right inner rear wheelhouse)
  • Stamped steel panel formed to OEM contours for accurate fit and alignment
  • Restores structural integrity and shields inner wheelwell from moisture and debris
  • Weld-in replacement—designed for straightforward trimming, test-fitting, and welding
  • Ideal for restoration projects and collision repairs; helps prevent future rust
  • Durable construction for reliable, long-term service and finishing
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 4/5
  • Estimated time: 3-6 hours per side (varies with experience and whether bed removal is required)
Suggested Tools:
  • Angle grinder with cutting and grinding wheels
  • Drill with spot-weld cutter or drill bits
  • MIG or TIG welder (or access to professional welding)
  • Clamps and C‑channel clamps
  • Hammer and body dolly
  • Wire brush or grinder for surface prep
  • Seam sealer and applicator
  • Rust inhibitor/primer and paint
  • Measuring tape and marker
  • Safety gear (gloves, eye protection, respirator)
  • Jack stands and floor jack (if removing wheel/bed)
  • Panel adhesive or plug weld supplies (as needed)
Instructions:
  1. Inspect the existing wheelhouse and surrounding panels to determine cut lines and extent of repair; decide whether bed removal is necessary for access.
  2. Disconnect battery and remove any nearby components (tail light assemblies, bed floor boards, inner trim) to gain safe access to the damaged panel.
  3. Support the bed and/or truck on jack stands as required. Remove the wheel if it improves access.
  4. Drill out spot welds and use an angle grinder to carefully cut away the rusted or damaged inner wheelhouse. Preserve any usable flange or attachment points when possible.
  5. Clean and prep mating surfaces by removing rust, paint, and debris so new metal will sit flush. Treat surrounding metal with rust inhibitor.
  6. Test-fit the replacement inner wheelhouse. Trim or adjust edges for a precise fit while maintaining factory contours and mounting points.
  7. Clamp the new panel in place and secure with tack welds. Re-check alignment and panel gaps before completing welds. Use plug welds where necessary to replicate OEM attachment.
  8. Grind welds smooth and dress seams. Apply seam sealer to welded joints to prevent moisture penetration.
  9. Prime bare metal with an appropriate primer, then paint or finish to match the surrounding area. Reattach any removed components and reassemble the bed/wheel.
  10. Inspect the repair for proper fit and finish, and perform a final corrosion-protection step (undercoating or seam sealer) in concealed areas.
