This 1968-1974 Chevrolet Nova rubber hood-to-cowl seal provides a reliable barrier between the hood and cowl to keep water, dirt, and road debris out of the engine bay while reducing wind noise and vibration. Molded from durable EPDM-style rubber, it restores factory fit and finish for restoration or maintenance projects. The seal helps maintain proper hood alignment and prevents corrosion caused by trapped moisture, offering long-lasting performance and an easy replacement for worn or missing weatherstripping.
Features:
  • Fits 1968-1974 Chevrolet Nova models (hood-to-cowl application).
  • Constructed from durable EPDM-style rubber for weather resistance and long life.
  • Seals the gap between hood and cowl to prevent water intrusion and debris buildup.
  • Reduces wind noise and vibration for a quieter, more secure hood fit.
  • OEM-style profile for accurate fitment and restored appearance.
  • Simple installation—ideal for restorations and routine weatherstrip replacement.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 30 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • Flat-blade screwdriver or plastic trim removal tool
  • Isopropyl alcohol or adhesive cleaner and clean rags
  • Weatherstrip adhesive (contact cement type)
  • Scissors or utility knife
  • Masking tape
  • Gloves
Instructions:
  1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and prop the hood open safely.
  2. Carefully remove the old seal: use a trim tool or flat-blade screwdriver to pry out the weatherstrip and clean away any old adhesive or debris.
  3. Clean the mating surfaces thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol or an adhesive cleaner; allow to dry completely.
  4. Test-fit the new rubber seal along the hood-to-cowl channel to confirm orientation and length; trim any excess with scissors or a utility knife if necessary.
  5. Apply a thin, even coat of weatherstrip adhesive to the seal channel or back side of the seal according to the adhesive manufacturer's instructions.
  6. Starting at the center, press the seal into the channel and work outward toward each end, ensuring the seal seats evenly and the profile matches the cowl contour.
  7. Use masking tape to hold the seal in place if needed while the adhesive sets. Check alignment and make minor adjustments before the adhesive skins over.
  8. Allow the adhesive to cure per the product directions (typically 30 minutes to a few hours) before closing the hood and performing a final inspection for gaps or loose areas.
